Actilyse® (alteplase or recombinant tissue plasminogen activator, rt-PA) is a fibrinolytic, or thrombolytic agent designed to dissolve the occlusive blood clots (thrombi) that can form in coronary and cerebral blood vessels. Such blood clots, by obstructing the flow of oxygenated blood, can cause tissue necrosis resulting in death or severe morbidity. Actilyse® acts to dissolve clots and allows resumption of blood flow.

Actilyse® has been licensed for use as a thrombolytic in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction or pulmonary embolism for more than 20 years. If you are interested in information concerning these indications please use the links below.

The 7th World Stroke Congress, organized by the World Stroke Organisation (WSO) will take place on 13th – 16th October 2010 in Seoul, Korea. You are invited to visit the Boehringer Ingelheim Satellite Symposium on Thursday, 14th October, from 12:30 – 14:00, where world-renowned stroke experts will be there to inform you about “Fresh perspectives driving contemporary management of acute stroke and secondary stroke prevention”.
